Aching to Get Rid of Belly Fat?

I was visiting my elderly father earlier this week and the TV was tuned into The Marilyn Denis Show on CTV. I never watch these shows (because I’m working or somewhere else) but sometimes that  can be interesting . That day, they were featuring Dr. Natasha Turner,  a local Toronto Naturopath and one of Canada’s health celebrities. I have heard Dr. Turner speak at several events, she is dynamic and a successful practitioner specializing in hormonal balance, detoxification  and sugar balancing-diets.

I listened in on her topic about reducing belly fat and the differences between men (visceral fat) and women (subcutaneous fat) carry it and how hormones can affect our weight. She presented a diet plan and some excellent tips on how to manage our food intake and habits.

  • Eat four meals a day (good-size meals no snacks)
  • Include fibre to your meals throughout the day rather than once a day in the morning
  • Eat carbs at the last meal in the evening which may better stabilize your sugar levels (insulin balance) and reduce cravings
  • Regulate your cortisol levels by eating low glycemic foods (see Glycemic Index Food List)

Watch the show here  (interview starts at 1.25 minutes) and also access Natasha’s diet plan.

Two weeks ago in my blog, “Three Ways for Reducing Inflammation”(August 7, 2015), I gave a link to a daily journal form but the link was broken. Here is the Lifestyle Journal August 8 2015 that will be beneficial for following your diet plan.

I had the good fortune of cooking a vegetarian community meal for 200 people at the Taste of Regent Park this week. Here are some photos. The menu was Vegan Mac and Cheese, Asian slaw, lentil salad and blueberry crumble which I’ve featured on The Wellness Wagon menus. It was a whole new experience cooking such large volumes of food. It was well-received and a wonderful evening overall.

The Taste of Regent Park presents and every Wednesday until September 3rd from 5:30 to 8:30 a community me your al for $3 made by different organizations,  a goof food market of local and organic produce, performances by, dancers, musicians,  stilt walkers and a film outdoors in the park at 9 pm presented by Regent Park Film Festival. Come and check it out! The Christian Resource Centre and other community organizations are doing an amazing job animating the outdoors and engaging the Regent Park community .
