Fresh Tidbits: Mid-May

Join in for Somatic Movement Thursdays at 10:00 am

On Thursdays, we practice Somatic movement to release stress from the body and improve posture, alignment and functionality (from injury, stress or overuse). You can read more about somatic movement here

Participants are lying down on the floor (ona  mat or carpet) and follow a series of movements that consistently recharge your body alignment.

I have had numerous experiences when doing somatic movement that have relaxed certain parts of my body, relieved the stress, shifting my posture and calming my whole soma.

This week’s somatic movement session, we will cover the movement series Unwinding the Patterns of Anxiety. We begin with mapping the  frontal ribs and exploring their interplay with the shoulders, neck, head, and tongue for relieving stress in the diaphragm and body.

Access the calendars here to register for this week’s sessions:

Somatic Movement on Thursdays, at 10:00am

You’re first visit is FREE!

We meet virtually on zoom so you can join us from wherever you are!

On Tuesdays, we practice gentle qigong movement for the first 20 minutes following with a meditation for 25 minutes.

Qigong as mentioned above, is an ancient health practice that originated in China 3000+ years ago and includes slow, graceful, movements synchronized with the breath to relax the mind into a calm state. It also helps to improve mental focus and prevents as well as treats ill health and disease.

Gentle movement prepares you for sitting in stillness for mediation to relax into the experience. Becoming aware of your breath while moving slows down the heart rate, calms the mind and regulates the nervous system. It also releases the joints and tension in the body.

Sign up for next week’s Mindful Tuesdays at 6:00 pm

Pay what you can or join the calm membership and take as many classes as you wish for $35/month (meditation or somatic movement).

Here’s a video of Daisy Lee, my teacher and founder of Radiant Lotus Women’s Qigong. At the park, you will be learning these movements too. It’s calming, beautiful and feels amazing! You can read more about qigong from an earlier post here.
